“Helping capitalize and distribute the downstream tyre market”
The most common recycling of tyre is Waste-To-Energy, which results in significant air and soil pollution, leaching of metals and other contaminants from the tire pieces. Zinc is concentrated (up to 2% by weight) to levels high enough to be highly toxic to aquatic life and plants. Of particular concern is evidence that some of the compounds that leach from tires into water, contain hormone disruptors and can cause liver lesions. This has to be addressed on top priority and India’s commitment to rejuvinate and bring in an umbrella structure to address enviornmental issues in this unstructured market is remarkable
Tyre a we know is indispensable to the automotive industry. With continuous innovation in design and chemical composition of tyres, it is all the more critical to channelize tyres to recyclers having the required technical expertise. This results in a very small fraction of the 1 Billion waste tyres generated every year is recycled by registered recyclers or upcycled into value added products.
We at MMCM are building collaborative communities and digital interventions to enable environmentally sound recycling of waste tyres and seamless fulfilment of EPR obligations. Our ecosystem includes Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities who will be the major generator of tyre scrap in the upcoming years.
Join hands with MMCM and be a part of our community working tirelessly to rationalize downstream tyre recycling markets.
